Syracuse Crystal Salt is hand-harvested from a deep mine bordering the Salina shale formation in upstate New York. Its large, snowflake-like crystals provide a briny flavor and a delicate crunch. It’s a perfect accent to both savory and sweet dishes.
The Salina shale formation borders a mineral-rich aquifer that is three times as salty as seawater. After the ‘virgin’ water is pumped from a depth of 300+ feet, it is naturally (slowly) evaporated to encourage the development of large, half centimeter crystals with a unique clean, crunchy flavor.
This versatile salt shines as a finishing touch on roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even desserts like chocolate. Its clean taste complements Mediterranean, European, and fusion cuisines.
