Premium Ground Pemba Cloves are grown and harvested on the small island of Pemba off the central eastern coast of Africa. Each clove is hand-picked at the peak of ripeness, just before flowering. The bright pink buds turn brown as they cure in the hot sun to develop a bright, sweet, intense warmth. They can be used to flavor savory dishes such as beef pork, poultry as well as sweet baked goods like cakes, pies and cookies.
Sourced from Burlap and Barrel Pemba Cloves are imported directly from Tanzania, where some of the oldest, richest, most mature clove trees in the world still exist. Their essenial oil content is so off-the-charts right that they are used as a natural anasthetic!
