Premium Black Tellicherry Peppercorns from Pemba Island are picked by hand and sun dried. In the process, they achieve a unique lemon-zest freshness and dark, wrinkled coating.

Most black peppercorns are harvested while still green, and the drying process gives them their distinctive dark skin. These are allowed to ripen longer on the vine, which results in a complex blend of fruiterry with dense wrinkles and a bright, fruity spiciness. These peppercorns are a bit smaller and a lot more intense than the strains that have been adapted to be grown commercially, in higher volume.

COOKING

  • Grind and add to a variety of dishes late in the looking cycle
  • Sprinkle a light handful whole into stews and soups 
  • Aromatic, complex, hot, smoky, spicy, hint of citrus
